How to upgrade your iPhone, iPad and iPOD Touch to iOS 6

Those of us that can't afford the new iPhone 5 yet can make do with an upgrade to the new iOS 6. iOS 6 is compatible with most of the previous model of some Apple devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch). iOS 6 packs a few major new features that require heavy processing power and as a result, Apple has limited the operating system that can be upgraded to the following models:

iPhone 3Gs and all later model of iPhone
iPad 2 and The New iPad
iPod Touch - the 4th and 5th Generation.

UPGRADE YOUR iDEVICES.
There are two way you can upgrade your iPhone, iPod or iPad. You either upgrade using Wi-Fi Connection (Over the air) or you upgrade via iTunes from you computer.
*It is advisable to backup your phone before carrying out this upgrade.

1. Upgrade Via Wi-Fi Connection (Over the air)
  •  Go To Settings > General
  •  Tap Software Update
  •  You should see iOS 6 listed, with a Download and Install button below it. Tap the button (See below)

  • Agree to Apple's terms and conditions to continue installation.
  • When the installation process is completed, your device will restart and you will be greeted with the Apple customary welcome screen.
2. Upgrade Via iTunes
  •   Open iTunes and then click iTunes > Check for Updates to install the latest version
  •   Once iTunes is up-to-date, connect your iOS device
  •   Click on your device under the Devices header in the left-hand column
  •   Click Check for Update. A pop-up window will appear, alerting you that a new iOS version is available for your device.
  •  Click the Download and Update button, Agree to Apple's terms  and conditions to start the download.
  •  Once the download Update is complete, keep your iOS device connected until it restarts.
  • Customize your Welcome Screen
  •  AND You are good to go

Note that some old model devices might not still be able to use some of the features available in iOS 6 on newer models.
